Present Tense

The simple present tense is used:

to show habitual actions

Example:


What does she like to eat? She likes to eat cuttlefish.


What do you do when you wake up? I brush my teeth.


⇒ for timeless actions/universal truths

Example:


There are twelve months in a year.


Cows eat grass.

⇒ for directions and instructions

Example:



Close your books.
